A Six-Part Online Meetup Series
Session 5 guest speaker: Laurie Young
What Did the AI Just Decide For You?
The CTO perspective: the conversations that get missed
—
A user story is a placeholder for a conversation, one that gets skipped when you ask an AI to build something. In my testing, every question your team would have argued over in refinement was answered for you. Most of those answers were reasonable. A few could cost you a good colleague, or worse, and many of the questions I ask about as a CTO were missed entirely.
Would you spot which ones?
Bring your favourite AI tool and find out. We'll each give it the same small, everyday brief, see what it decided on our behalf, and then ask it to explain itself.
Then we'll look for the bigger decisions that might affect the business.
You'll leave with a CTO's eye for what AI-built work takes for granted, and some new ideas about what you can and cannot delegate to AI. My hope is that this lets you and your team focus on where you can now add the most value.
No technical background needed, and no code involved.
Please have access to an AI chat tool of your choice (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, etc.).

Description of this series
Agile didn’t promise speed. It promised sustainability.
The original Agile Movement was never about pumping out code at breakneck speed. It was about building robust, adaptable software and creating healthier, human-centred workplaces. It promised autonomy, trust, and environments where people were empowered to make meaningful decisions.
For the most part, we missed that mark.
Over the last two decades, workers were subjected to micromanagement, rigid tools, and metric tracking. Managers, too, were trapped in a system few truly understood. While delivery pipelines improved, the human potential latent within our organisations remained largely untapped.

Join us to explore how we can finally fulfil the original promise of Agile—creating exceptional products in truly human-centric environments.
